But it doesn’t matter if you know what the entire acronym stands for if you still do not know what the expanded set of words really mean, unless you are a really techie person. So, to an average person who doesn’t have a degree on any computer-related study at all, how will you be able to understand what SIP VoIP is?
First of all, SIP is a technology introduced to improve the system of telephones all over the world. But in order for you to be able to enjoy this technology, you must have a provider that would give you the SIP service that you need.
SIP trunking is what it’s called when a particular normal telephone system gets connected to the internet, which makes it completely SIP-enabled. And when I say the internet, it is the same place where your favorite websites are located.
So instead of your telephone system functioning over teh traditional means of telephone lines, the SIP VoIP technology will let you transmit your phone calls over the internet. And because you are now using the internet, your phone number will be in the form of an IP address rather than the conventional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) number.
So if ever you have a SIP VoIP enabled telephone system and you decide to call another SIP enabled system from a distant location, you will just have to connect through its IP address and nothing more. On the other hand, if a SIP telephone system contacts a regular PTSN number, it will simply adjust so that the IP address will change to become a PTSN number closest to the number being called.
So, if you get this SIP VoIP technology for your phone system, what are the exact benefits that you will garner compared to using normal phone systems? The advantages of using this system lies solely on the advantages of the internet. For example, you will be able to eliminate possible long distance phone call charges because the internet does not really apply this.
